We believe…
THE SCRIPTURES – We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible, and God-breathed.
THE TRINITY – We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—co-eternal in being, co-eternal in nature, co-equal in power and glory, having the same attributes and perfections.
THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST – We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His perfect sinless life as our representative and His sacrificial death on the cross as our substitute, and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He, as our High Priest, fulfills the ministry as Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. We believe Jesus is coming again to judge the living and the dead.
THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT – We believe that the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the Supernatural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling, sealing, and empowering them to glorify God and do His will unto the day of redemption.
SALVATION – We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.
THE MINISTRY AND SPIRITUAL GIFTS – We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowing of spiritual gifts. It is, however, the believer’s responsibility to attempt to develop their God given spiritual gift(s). We also believe that particular spiritual gift(s) are neither essential, nor prove the presence of the Holy Spirit, nor are an indication of deep spiritual experience. We believe that God does hear and answer the prayer of faith, in accordance with His own will, for the sick and afflicted. We believe that it is the privilege and responsibility of every believer to minister according to the gift(s) and grace of God that is given to Him.
THE 2ND COMING – We believe that the second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church, the grand climax of the gospel. The Saviour’s coming will be literal, personal, visible, and worldwide. The time of that event has not been revealed, and we are therefore exhorted to be ready at all times.
BAPTISM – We believe that by baptism we confess our faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and testify of our death to sin and of our purpose to walk in newness of life.
THE SABBATH – We believe the gracious Creator, after the six days of Creation, rested on the seventh day and instituted the Sabbath for all people as a memorial of Creation. The Sabbath is a day of delightful communion with God and one another. It is a symbol of our redemption in Christ, a sign of our sanctification, and a foretaste of our eternal future in God’s kingdom. Joyful observance of this holy time from evening to evening, sunset to sunset, is a celebration of God’s creative and redemptive acts.
THE CHURCH – We believe that the church, which is the body and bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. We recognize believer’s baptism and the Lord’s supper as scriptural means of testimony for the church.
Who is Jesus?
This is the story God is telling:
- Creation: God created a good world (Gen. 1.31, Ps. 19.1-4).
- Fall: Humans sinned, and our sin affected relationships with God, others, ourselves, and creation (Gen. 3:1-19, Is. 53.6, Rom. 1.21-23, Rom. 1:28-32, Gal. 5.19-21).
- Redemption: Jesus, the Son of God, came, died for our sins, and rose from the dead making available new life through Him. (Gen. 3.15, Luke 1.31-35, John 1.1-14, John 3.16, Luke 4.18-19, Rom. 5.12-21, Matt. 28.1-10, 1 Cor. 15.20-28, 1 Tim. 2:5, Matt. 28.18).
- Restoration: As redeemed people, we join God in His work of restoring all things (2 Cor. 5.15-17, Matt. 28.18-20, Gen. 1.28-31, Mic. 6.8, Matt. 5.9) and await Christ’s return (Rev. 22.7).
Our Mission: “Getting people to the presence of God through worship, intercession and the word.”
We exist to honor God and exalt the risen Savior, Jesus Christ, by building Christ-center ministries and people.
Our Vision: “Pursuing the presence of God”
Oasis of Hope is devoted to doing the will of the Lord. We seek His face, His will, and His ways. In doing so we will fulfill His plans for us in this earth.
